At the beginning of October 2015, the Chongqing Municipal Road Transportation Administration held a special meeting to deploy and implement the work of the Chongqing Municipal Government to eliminate 6,415 yellow-labeled vehicles in 2015.
The yellow label car is one of the "culprits" that cause air pollution. Studies have shown that the pollutant emissions of a yellow standard vehicle are equivalent to the pollutant emissions of 14 countries III and 28 national IV standard vehicles.
In 2015, Chongqing Municipality will intensify its investigation and punishment of illegal activities of yellow-label vehicles without annual trials on the road. For the operating vehicles that have not obtained the green environmental protection inspection mark and the safety technology inspection qualified mark, the “Road Transportation Operation Permit†will not be issued, and the annual inspection procedures for the road transportation permit will not be applied; the yellow label car that will be phased out will be subsidized.
In 2015, Chongqing will phase out 17676 yellow-label vehicles, including 6,415 yellow-label vehicles before the end of 2005. As of June, Chongqing had eliminated 7,972 yellow-label vehicles, including 2,780 yellow-label vehicles before the end of 2005.
