Power battery trade surplus expands year by year
According to customs data, the total import and export volume of China's power batteries in 2016 was US$12.993 billion, down 2.57% from 2015. Among them, the import value was US$3.396 billion, down 5.59% year-on-year; the export value was US$9.597 billion, down 1.46% year-on-year.
From January to April 2017, China's total import and export of power batteries was 3.955 billion US dollars; of which, the import value was 995 million US dollars, and the export volume was 2.959 billion US dollars.

Lithium ion battery is the main import and export product
From the perspective of imported product structure, China's power battery imports in 2016 can be divided into five categories. Among them, lithium-ion batteries are the main imported products. In 2016, the import value of this product was 3.055 billion US dollars, accounting for 89.96% of the total import of power batteries.
In 2016, the second largest product in China's power battery import volume was nickel-metal hydride storage battery. The import quantity of this product was 123 million, and the import value was 186 million US dollars, accounting for 5.47% of the total power battery imports.
In 2016, the third-ranked product of China's power battery imports was other lead-acid batteries. The import value of this product was US$115 million, accounting for 3.38% of the total import of power batteries.

From the perspective of export product structure, in 2016 China's power battery export products can be divided into 7 categories. China's power battery is mainly imported from South Korea
In 2016, from the import area of ​​lithium-ion batteries, the main imported products of China's power battery, the main import areas of China's power batteries are Korea, Japan and Malaysia. Among them, the number of lithium-ion batteries imported from South Korea is about 618 million, amounting to 1.003 billion US dollars, accounting for 29.52% of the total imports of lithium-ion batteries, is the main importer of lithium-ion batteries in China; the number of lithium-ion batteries imported from Japan About 439 million, the import value of 659 million US dollars, accounting for 19.39%; the amount of lithium-ion batteries imported from other countries are not more than 600 million US dollars.

In 2016, China's power battery is mainly exported to Hong Kong, the United States and Vietnam. Hong Kong is the main export area of ​​power batteries in China; the number of lithium-ion batteries exported to the United States reached 114 million, the amount is 1.083 billion US dollars, accounting for 11.29% of the total export of lithium-ion batteries; the number of lithium-ion batteries exported to Vietnam is 183 million, the amount reached 581 million US dollars, accounting for 6.06% of the total export of lithium-ion batteries; lithium ions sold to other regions The battery export value is below 500 million US dollars.
