“This is the result of Futian’s continuous structural adjustment and adherence to the road of connotative growth.†Zhao Jingguang, deputy secretary of Foton Motor Party Committee, said in an interview with reporters: “Fukuda's rapid development of new products has greatly increased the added value of products. Zhao Jingguang said that at present, Foton has maintained its technological superiority in the R&D of new energy vehicles, and major breakthroughs have been achieved in new energy vehicles, batteries, and electric control development. In January, the production and sales volume of Futian New Energy Bus accounted for half of the total production and sales of passenger cars. Futian Euro V Bus Co., Ltd. recently signed a purchase agreement for 300 new energy buses with Beijing Bus Group. This is another big list after the Beijing Public Transport Group purchased 800 Futian New Energy buses in 2009. What's different is that the key technology components of the 300 hybrid buses will be fully realized in order to achieve localization. The mission of taking the European V new energy bus technology as a leader and bringing about the simultaneous development of new energy technologies across the country. In addition, Foton Euro V has also received orders for new energy passenger cars from Taiwan, Guangzhou, Shandong, Zhejiang, and Tianjin.
In order to enhance its international competitiveness, Foton Motor will build five new key projects in 2010: Futian Beijing Auman GTL production base, multi-function automobile plant, gasoline engine plant, heavy machinery factory and global business headquarters.
According to Zhao Jingguang, these five key projects are planned to produce high-end automobiles and engine products. The level of technology, process design, workshop management, quality control and personnel quality of Foton Motor will all occupy a leading position in the domestic automotive industry. After the five key projects are formally put into production, Foton Motor's products will be able to break through the limits of technology and emissions from developed countries, and will become Chinese auto brands entering the markets of developed countries.
