China's soda ash has grown by an average of over one million tons annually, becoming the world’s major producer and exporter

On the eve of the World Soda Conference held in Beijing, the reporter learned from the China Soda Industry Association that China’s soda ash industry has been rapidly developing at a rate of 1 million tons per year since 1999, effectively guaranteeing the continuous growth of soda ash in various sectors of the national economy. At present, China has become the world's leading soda ash producer and exporter.

In 2003, China's soda production reached 11.01 million tons, surpassing the United States for the first time in the world. In 2004, a total of 12.5 million tons of soda ash was produced, an increase of 1.49 million tons over the previous year, an increase of 13.5%, which was the largest increase in output. From January to May this year, cumulative production of 5.56 million tons of soda ash, an increase of 640,000 tons, an increase of 13%. The increase in production of soda ash this year was mainly due to the production of 300,000 tons of soda ash per year by Jiangsu Wal-Mart, the annual production of 200,000 metric tons of soda ash in Sichuan Hebang, and the production of 100,000 tons of soda ash in Henan Zhongxing. . Soda ash production is expected to increase by more than 1 million tons this year than in 2004.

At the same time as the rapid development of production, exports of soda ash products have increased at the same time. In 2004, a total of 1.43 million tons of soda ash were exported, an increase of 180,000 tons over the previous year, an increase of 14.4%; from January to May this year, cumulative total of 7.123 million tons of soda ash was exported, an increase of 98,000 tons year-on-year. . In May, the export volume of soda ash was 212,300 tons in a single month, creating the highest level of monthly export history.
