World packaging machinery demand will grow at an annual rate of 4%

US information company Freedonia predicts that in the next few years, the world demand for packaging machinery will increase at a rate of 4% per year, and this trend will continue until 2008. The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (PMMI) predicts that sales of packaging machinery in the United States will increase by 7% this year. Freedonia believes, labeling and coding equipment will continue to maintain its status as the fastest growing products, the emergence of new labeling regulations and customer continuously improve the traceability requirements, will stimulate sales of labeling and coding equipment.
PMMI believes that the pharmaceutical industry is likely to become the largest market for packaging equipment, followed by the beverage and personal care industries. Another factor contributing to the continued growth in the sales of packaging machinery is the upgrading of automation. Escalating automation equipment plays a crucial role in the decision-making of new machinery investment.
