The technical indicators of crop germplasm resources
Crop germplasm resources are an important part of biodiversity and a country's most valuable and strategically important resource. The establishment of a database of crop germplasm resources can enable food security, ecological security and income increase for farmers. The germplasm resource bank of crops was first established in the United States and gradually developed into various parts of the world. China established an initial reserve of germplasm resources in the 1990s. Later, in 2003, we proposed the construction plan of the National Crop Germplasm Resources Platform. Starting from 2004, the National Crop Germplasm Resources Database System was established to set up a national crop germplasm resource platform.
The development of technical indicators of crop germplasm resources is based on the following principles: (1) The main research and breeding needs of crop germplasm resources are taken into account, taking into account both production and market needs. (2) Based on the existing research and work foundation in China, consider future development, and set aside space for expansion. (3) Drawing on international advanced indicators, expanding and innovating on the basis of digestion and absorption. (4) The combination of science, system and practicality. (5) Combination of key technical indicators and method inheritance and innovation. (6) Focus on new technical indicators such as quality (nutritional quality, sensory quality, processing quality, storage freshness, etc.), resistance to pests and diseases, and stress resistance characteristics. (7) Strengthen the development of China's unique resources and specificity technical indicators.
