Guangxi "borrows the brain" to plan the layout of the petrochemical industry base along the coast of the Beibu Gulf

Guangxi, located in the Southwest, is currently inviting a group of top domestic experts to conduct in-depth consultation and demonstration of the coastal ethylene project. This project plans to build a petrochemical base with significant influence throughout the Beibu Gulf in the next five years, making the future annual sales revenue of the Guangxi petrochemical industry more than 200 billion yuan.

Guangxi has recently been actively consulting with some of China’s top academicians on the large coastal ethylene project. Wang Baoqing, Academician of the Petrochemical Research Institute of the China Petrochemical Corporation and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Hou Baorong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Oceanography and Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Wang Xiaoci, School of Urban and Environmental Studies, Peking University, and Professor Gu Junjie, Chief Scientist of the New Austrian Technology Development Company, were invited to Guangxi provides consultation.

According to Pan Wenfeng, Deputy Director of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission, in the next five years, Guangxi will focus on the construction of Qinzhou Petrochemical Park and Tieshan Port Petrochemical Park in accordance with the requirements of refining and chemical integration, and vigorously develop petrochemical products such as ethylene, propylene, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Build an important petrochemical base throughout the country. By 2015, Guangxi will strive to have a petrochemical industry sales revenue of more than 200 billion yuan.

The previous large-scale petrochemical projects have settled in the coastal areas of the Beibu Gulf. Last September, PetroChina Guangxi Petrochemical's 10 million-ton/year oil refinery project was officially completed and put into operation in Qinzhou. The total investment of the project is 15.1 billion yuan. After the project is put into production, it can supply 8.3 million tons of gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene and liquid petroleum to the southwest region each year. Gas and other fuels, and 900,000 tons of polypropylene, aromatics, benzene, toluene, mixed xylene and other petrochemical products. The Sinopec Refining Offshore Refining Petrochemical Project in Beihai was also started construction at the end of 2008. The project has a total investment of 4.15 billion yuan and an annual output of 200,000 tons of polypropylene.

Academicians and experts provided valuable opinions on the development of Guangxi's petrochemical industry. Academician Wang Xiqing believes that the development of petrochemical industry is broad, and the process of extending the industrial chain of ethylene and propylene is relatively mature. The key is the market demand. Guangxi's petrochemical industry needs to develop in the direction of fine chemicals. It should carefully analyze and forecast the future market supply and demand environment, and participate in market competition by adopting more advanced environmental protection technologies, upgrading technologies, and quality.

Professor Gu Junjie believes that while Guangxi is developing its economy, it must also protect the ecological environment. The government should consider the development of the industry from the perspective of overall strategy, do a good job of industrial planning, guide the effective flow of logistics and energy between enterprises, and reduce energy consumption. The development of enterprises must be forward-looking. The government should guide enterprises to introduce more advanced and advanced technologies to ensure the cleanliness and environmental protection of production processes and products.

According to Liu Lin, the Development Research Center of the Autonomous Region, the demand for refined oil in the three provinces of Guangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan in the southwest region exceeds 15 million tons per year. The vast majority rely on North Oil Nanyun and East Oil West to send, and local demand is strong; reflecting the development level of the petrochemical industry. The ethylene industry's driving effect can reach 1:25, and it can be extended to electronic information, precision machinery, automobiles and spare parts, ships, and electromechanical industries. Therefore, the country's layout of the petrochemical industry in Guangxi will completely solve the unbalanced distribution of China's petrochemical industry. It will also build Guangxi into the commanding heights of the southwest region for the strategic layout of the national petrochemical industry.
