Liuzhou parts industry is not equipped with vehicle production capacity

In 2004, the only city in China, Liuzhou, which currently owns SAW, FAW, and Dongfeng's three major automobile group automakers, will exceed 300,000 vehicles. Some experts recently proposed at the annual meeting of the Chinese auto parts industry held in Liuzhou that the small scale of the company, poor product R&D capability, and low technological content lead to the backwardness of parts and components industry, and the total production capacity of Liuzhou’s vehicles in Chinese cities. The position of the fifth place has formed a great contrast.

Liuzhou is located at the intersection of the eastern part of China and the western part of the country. It is a transportation hub for China's South-Central and Southwestern regions, and an important industrial base in Guangxi and western China. It has an earlier history of automobile production. After self-rolling development, Liuzhou Automobile Factory (referred to as Liuzhou Automobile), Liuzhou Mini Vehicle Factory (referred to as Liu Wei) and Liuzhou Special Automobile Factory (Liuite) are all three companies that have performed well in the industry.

At the end of the last century, the Liuzhou municipal government re-examined the automotive industry. In response to the challenges brought by the accession to the World Trade Organization, the Liuzhou municipal government has successively introduced industry giants such as China FAW Group, China Automotive Industry Group Corporation, SAIC Motor and General Motors, hoping to use their funds. , management, and technology will make the auto industry bigger and stronger, making Liuzhou a veritable automobile city. In recent years, the United States General Motors, Nissan, Renault and other world auto giants have also been optimistic about the advantages of superior location here and a solid industrial base, have landed in Liuzhou.

According to statistics, in 2004, the production capacity of Liuzhou’s three largest automakers will exceed 300,000 vehicles. The products cover dozens of models including mini vehicles, light buses, medium and heavy-duty trucks, and special-purpose vehicles. At present, Wuling mini-cars, passenger cars by dragon, commercial vehicles of Fengshen commercial vehicles, special vehicles, etc. all occupy a certain share in the national market among the automobile varieties produced by the three major automobile manufacturers.

Currently, there are only 130 auto parts companies in Liuzhou City. On the whole, these companies are small in scale, have poor product R&D capabilities and have small technology content.

Experts believe that the rapid expansion of automobile production scale and the rapid growth of automobile production have brought unprecedented opportunities for the development of auto parts production in Liuzhou and brought unprecedented pressure. Compared with the production capacity of Liuzhou's entire vehicle, the production capacity of its associated auto parts is not very optimistic. Compared with the major automobile production bases in China, the gap is even greater.

According to the strategic development plan of China's three major vehicle companies in the next few years, the production capacity of vehicle manufacturers will grow at a faster rate. Some experts participating in the annual meeting believe that with the rapid expansion of the three major vehicle manufacturers, it is estimated that by 2010, Liuzhou’s total vehicle production will reach 700,000 vehicles, which will form a huge market for auto parts and components. In accordance with the requirements of lean production and punctual supply, localized production is a necessary choice for component suppliers to reduce costs and increase competitiveness. All these provide an unprecedented opportunity for Liuzhou to develop the auto parts industry in the future.

It is understood that in order to promote the production of auto parts, Liuzhou has developed parts and components as a key industry to develop, introduced a series of support measures and preferential policies to encourage the parts and components companies to expand production scale and improve product quality.

Yu Zubin, deputy director of the Yanghe Industrial Park Management Committee in Liuzhou City, said that in the past year or so, it has included the top 500 companies in the United States, including Lear Inc., the US PAC Group, and Atlas Sweden. Sixteen auto parts companies with considerable scale, such as Copco, SAIC's share-gear factory, and Zhejiang Vientiane Group, have entered the area and have a total investment of approximately 1.5 billion yuan.
