Brazilian and U.S. Senior Officials Think of Ethanol as "Future Fuel"

Senior officials in Brazil and the United States stated on the 11th that ethanol is “Future Fuel” and its large-scale production will not affect the food supply.

Officials of the two countries responsible for ethanol fuel held the “American Seminar on Innovation and Competitiveness” in Brasilia that day, focusing on the research and development prospects of biofuels and the relationship between ethanol and food production.

Brad Barton, director of the US Department of Energy’s Office of Renewable Energy, pointed out that ethanol is one of the few “safe choices” that can replace oil and represents the future of energy. He said: "Brazil is developing rapidly in the field of replacing petroleum with alcohol fuel. The United States is willing to follow the pace of Brazil."

According to Erani Varela, the president’s president’s advisor, the development of biofuels is a major way out for poor countries to get rid of dependence on oil and has far-reaching social significance.

This seminar will end on the 12th. Brazil and the United States are the two largest ethanol fuel producers in the world, accounting for 74% of global production.
