Tripartite Committee Draft "Innovative Pilot Enterprise" Supported by Independent Brands

August 21st, 21st Century Business Herald News, Li Shufu recently no longer complained about the government's injustice against private enterprises. The reason is simple. Geely Automobile has been listed as one of the “enterprises for piloting innovative companies” by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology. As a pilot, Geely will receive government funding and project support for the first time.

According to information from the Ministry of Science and Technology, a total of 103 enterprises were designated as innovative pilot enterprises by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. This is the most concrete support measure adopted by the central government since it strongly urges enterprises to carry out independent innovation.

Among the hundreds of vehicle manufacturers in China, a total of four companies have obtained pilot units. In addition to Geely, there are FAW Group, Chery Automobile and Yutong Bus. There are large-scale central enterprises, local state-owned and private enterprises, and joint-stock listed companies, because many companies believe that this is a "balanced" result.

It is worth noting that neither the SAIC nor the Dongfeng in the three major groups were selected, and none of the joint venture companies were selected. Among the parts and components companies, Wanxiang Group, the largest auto parts company in China, has not become a pilot project. The only one selected is Xiangfan Xinghuo Auto Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a Sino-foreign joint venture controlled by a private enterprise.

“The four auto companies were selected to vividly reflect the status quo of independent innovation in the Chinese auto industry and the government's attitude toward independent innovation of various concepts. The inclusion of Chery, Geely and Yutong buses proves that their 'self-reliance' type of independent innovation efforts and achievements have been achieved. Government recognition and support, while FAW's selection confirms the complex mentality of the government's own independent innovation path for the three major auto groups.” A person familiar with the situation so commented on the introduction of the innovative pilot enterprise program.
