Strawberries are perennial grasses of the family Rosaceae and Fragaria. Plants are highly heterozygous, and asexual reproduction is more commonly used. Seeds are the basis of crossbreeding. However, due to the small seeds, thick seed coat and poor water absorption, the seed germination rate of strawberry seeds is not good for the emergence of good individual plants. Raising seed germination rate is of great significance to strawberry breeding.
In this paper, we mainly discuss the effect of temperature on the germination of strawberry seeds, in which the temperature control and regulation are achieved through the seed germination box. The seed germination box is an incubator capable of controlling various parameters such as temperature, humidity, and illuminance. It is often used in the seed germination test, and is sometimes called a precision seed germination box. This test shows that 25/20°C conditions are more suitable for germination of strawberry seeds. The germination rate of strawberry seeds at 25/20°C was higher than that at 30/25°C. The difference in the germination rate of the crown was most obvious. On the 21st day, the germination rate of treated and untreated seed of Phoenix coronet was 56.0 and 74.7 percentage points higher than that at 30/25°C at 25/20°C. Ruby seeds germinated at 25/20°C, and the germination rate of seeds treated by cutting at 25/20°C was 20.0 percentage points higher than that at 30/25°C. The difference in germination rate of the untreated seeds under the above two temperature conditions was not obvious. On the 22nd day, both germination rates were 34.0%.
It can be seen that the suitable germination temperature for strawberry seeds is 25/20°C. The optimum temperature for strawberry plant growth and development is 20-26°C. When the temperature is higher than 30°C, the growth is inhibited. In many experiments, we all need to use advanced scientific instruments. These instruments make the research more in-depth and faster and with higher accuracy.
