COSCO and 17 Auto Majors Strategic Alliance


On August 17, the Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission led and promoted a "strategic alliance" between the domestic automobile industry and the shipping industry at the National Automobile and Components Export Base Awards Conference held in Beijing. China Ocean Shipping (Group) Corporation and 17 companies including FAW, Dongfeng, Chang'an, Futian, Hafei, Chery, JAC, Geely, Great Wall, ZTE, Jiangling, Yutong, Jinlong Travel, Jinlong United, CNHTC, Zhongtong, BYD, etc. The automakers signed a 15-year strategic cooperation agreement.

According to the agreement, the two sides will use the principles of mutual benefit, long-term cooperation and common development to support each other and carry out various forms of strategic cooperation. COSCO Group will give preferential priority to various automakers with high-quality services and competitive freight rates. At the same time, COSCO Group will accelerate the development of the automobile fleet based on the overall transportation needs of various manufacturers.

It is understood that the rapid development of China's auto industry in recent years, the rapid growth in exports last year, exports of 180,000 vehicles, is expected to reach 350,000 this year. In order to ensure the safety of domestic auto export and transportation, promote the construction of national auto and auto parts export bases, and realize the healthy and stable development of the Chinese auto industry, the Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission have taken the lead and contributed to the long-term cooperation between domestic auto manufacturers and Chinese shipping companies.
